Thank you Gary!
I have added these notes to my Carson - Maxwell file including the previous correspondence
from you. I am hopeful that someday somebody will contact us both and tell us how all
these clannish "Pa to NC" families are exactly related!
Keep me in mind for anything Maxwell related!

Subject: Re: [CARSON] Carsons and Maxwells of Penn > NC 1700s
Hi Donald,
I usually make note of Maxwell surnames when they show up near Carson families of
interest. In my typed Carson notes, Maxwell shows up 127 times. Here are some
Maxwell-related notes related to my Carson and connecting surnames.
Gary Carson
1700-1750s County Down, N. Ireland - Numerous Maxwell baptisms and marriages are in First
Killyleigh Presbyterian where my Carson line was located prior to PA. Baptisms include
other surnames that also show in PA c1750 with my Carson and intermarry, such as Woods,
Strain, Hannah, Mitchell, Richey, Roan/Rowan, Cuthbertson, English, Brown.
1758 Oct 18 Derry Twp, Lancaster Co PA, will David Black, wife Jane, nephews and nieces,
William Leard (Lard or Laird), Thomas Spencer, William Spencer, Eliza Leard, Mary Maxwell;
Exec John Leard, Robert Wallace
Margaret Black was a daughter of a David Black who died 1803 in Iredell Co NC with wife
Mary. I don't know if they link to the David Black dec'd 1758 PA. Margaret Black
was the wife of Samuel Carson dec'd 1807 Iredell NC - I suspect this Carson line links
with mine based upon paper trails to date. David Black Sr. witnesses the will of William
Carson 1759 Rowan/Iredell NC (wife Murian/Marian, dtr Susannah).
12 Jun 1752 Orange NC – deed George Williams to William Williams 200a adknowledged; deed
Francis Brandon to Mary Maxwell 300a acknowledged. My Carson line was in Orange shortly
after c1760s. My David Carson later connects with a George Williams Jr. in 1810 as
witnesses, administrators, bondsmen.
Guilford Co NC 1780s - A John Maxwell shows up 1772 on Reedy Fork and was a member of
Buffalo Presbyerian Church. He connects to the Maxwells in PA. My Carson line from
Lancaster Co PA migrated from Orange NC 1760s then to Guilford NC c1778-1782. The Carson
families had marriages in Buffalo church.
3 Jul 1854 Greene TN will Thomas Carson, children Lewiza (Louisa?), Easter, Maxwell
Carson, David Carson, William Carson dec’d legatee Martha R. Carson, wit James McMackin,
Robert Smith, Henry Mathew, Robert Taylor. This suggests and wife or mother surnamed
Maxwell.
1832 Haywood Co NC, Maxwell Queen was bondsman for Olive Queen and Ross Carter. In 1832
Macon Co NC (formed from Haywood), Maxwell Queen married Sela Rose. The older Maxwell
Queen born c1790 was a cousin of my Nancy Queen born 1801 Rutherford Co NC who Samuel
Carson born 1804. The younger Maxwell Queen born 1803 was a nephew of a cousin.
Patterson surname:
Samuel Patterson dec'd 1775 Lancaster Co PA Sadsbury Twp (wife Rebecca). He son Samuel
Patterson married Martha Ramsey (other children Matthew, William, John dec'd, Janet
Tweed. Some children end up in Rutherford Co NC. My Carson line connects to a Matthew
Patterson and Samuel Patterson in Rutherford Co NC (unproven assumption is Catherine who
married my David Carson was a Patterson, dtr of Matthew although her surname could be
something else, including Maxwell given there was a Catherine Maxwell name in Guilford
NC). My David Carson administered the will of Samuel Patterson dec'd 1812 NC. A John
Carson in Rutherford Co NC lived near Matthew Patterson and Samuel Patterson in 1790. I
understand that a John in Rutherford was possibly a son of Walter Carson.
Boyd, Bell surnames:
Mary Boyd married Robert Bell Jr of Guilford Co NC in 1775. Robert's brother Samuel
Bell had a son James Bell who married Mary Carson 1773 and Thomas Bell married Elizabeth
Carson 1774. Boyd families were Carson neighbors in Iredell Co NC c1790-1810. An Agnes
Carson married John Duff 1773 Guilford Co NC.
