I really haven't looked at the Carsons in eastern NC.
Did a little checking with the following results.
THere are no Carsons in Franklin Ct. in 1790 or
1800 Census. There are two in 1810: Alexander
with a son under 10, he's 16-25 and a female 10-15 (I
think this is an error and it should be 16-25). THe other
is John who is plus 45 with 3 sons under 10, 4 10-15
and 2 16-25. Females are 1 25-44.
I think there is a possibility that John Carson
is the father of your Alexander.
If you know for certain (proven) the sibblings of Artha
Carson and year of birth, I can check 1880 to see where
their parents were born. Has to be male sibblings or
unmarried females who would be head of household.
Alexander did serve in the war of 1812 in the Franklin Ct.
Regiment. YOu might check with the NC archives for
a service record. I don't find him in the 1850 Census;
did he die before then? Also don't find an Artha Carson
in the 1850 Census.
There is an Alexander Carson in Greene Ct. Illinois
right age 1830 and in Jersey Ct. 1840 right age. Could
be same except wife's ages don't match; did he remarry?
