Hi Josette,
I've been following the Carson posts and interested in the info you may have
on Pa. Carsons. All I know about my Carson line is the following:
Mary Carson born about 1794 Pa. She married Henry Gregg Oct. 22, 1818 in
Derry Twp.,
Westmoreland County, Pa. In the 1850 Census I find them living in Jefferson
Twp., Allegheny Co, Pa. I can't locate neither of them in the 1860 Census
and assume they both have died.
They had the following children:
James Gregg died young
Ana Maria Gregg b. Dec 2, 1819 Pa., died Feb 4, 1892 married to Samuel C.
Watson
Nancy Jane Gregg b. 1826 Pa., died Jan 30, 1892 married to William Hoffman
King
Margaret F. Gregg b. Jan 13, 1818 Pa., died Oct 19, 1902 Pa., married to
Aron Watson
Joseph Carson Gregg b. 1829 Pa., died Apr 4, 1891 married to Isabelle Haney
Emily H. Gregg b.March 15, 1832 Pa., died Oct. 10, 1904 Allegheny Co., Pa.
married to Adam Walton Smith (my paternal 2nd great grandparents)
Samuel T. Gregg b. Jun 13, 1835 Pa., died 1915 married to Eliza T. J. Craven
There is also a Prine Carson b. about 1790 and married to Margaret Gregg.
Margaret is sister to Henry Gregg, husband to Mary Carson. I feel but can't
prove that Prine Carson and Mary Carson are connected in some way maybe
brother and sister but I don't have parents names for Mary to prove
anything.
1840 Census Loyalhannah Twp., Westmoreland Co. Prine Carson and his family
are living there. By 1850 Prine is no longer listed in the census records
but Margaret and her children are still in Loyalhannah Twp. living next door
to Joseph Gregg, her brother. The children of Prine and Margaret are:
Charles Carson
Frank Carson
Julie Carson - I question this one
Abner Carson b. abt. 1827 Pa. married to Julie
Maggie Carson b. about 1829 Pa.
Oliver Carson b. abt. 1838 Pa. married to Mary B.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you,
Lona Laughlin Boudreaux

First, I changed email addresses. It's now
josettemaxwell(a)bellsouth.net.
Secondly, John Carson of Rutherford County is proven the son of Walter and
Agness Carson
of what became Adams County Pennsylvania. The children of Jane Patterson
and Samuel
Carson are proven, many of them coming down to the Carolinas. Their
daughter Mary
Carson marrried Walter Carson, presumed son of Walter and Agness Carson
(York Ct. SC).
Another son of Walter and Agnes Carson of Adams Ct. also came to the
Carolinas
William Carson whom I've never found. We can prove a blood relationship
between
Samuel Carson m. Jane Patterson and Walter Carson m. Agness Carson of
Adams, just
not whether they are brothers or cousins. Samuel is in Chester on the tax
rolls by 1725
and Walter Carson on the tax rolls 1729, same town in Chester County. My
connection
is that the daughter of Walter and Agness Carson of Adams, married Henry
Maxwell.
I did a lot of research on the Carsons of the Carolinas and posted it on
the Carson
Genforum a couple of years ago. I did it by county if I remember
correctly pulling everything
together that was based on documents.
