Margaret,
Just a note expressing my appreciation for your willingness to take over
the list ...temporary or not. Dan
PS: I'll send in my Carson query later.

Hi everyone on the CARSON list -
My name is Margaret Olson. I'm kind of an assistant "obfuscator" to
Tim and some of the other rootsweb management-types. Tim sent this
list a message telling you Harold Helm isn't managing this (or any)
RootsWeb lists now and that we're looking for replacement list owners.
About half of Harold's 77 lists were taken the first day, and 3 or 4 of
us stepped in to help Tim with the others which still need list managers
so that Tim can go back to improving Rootsweb as a whole.
I already manage EDMONDSON-L and PENNOYER-L and GEN-MARKET and am quite
willing to keep this list if nobody else wants it, but since I don't
have any CARSON names at all in my ancestry except for one Leah CARSON
who married the brother of one of my RICHARDS ancestors in OH, so you
might do better with someone who has a vested interest and some expertise
to share.
If you think you'd like to try list managing, go to the web at
http://www.rootsweb.com and browse around the listowners and webmasters
section. If you are sure you want to manage the list, send me email at
olson(a)shout.net or send email to Tim Pierce at twp(a)rootsweb.com.
Rootsweb's procedure for lists has been to allow sponsors who
donate $24 per year to have two lists. However, Helm's lists and the
others which came over from
indiana.edu with the "great Maiser migration"
were grandfathered in, and no donation will be expected for managing any
of those lists (though in my opinion donating to Rootsweb is a pretty
good thing to do). It will not be a requirement for this list, however.
My philosophy of list ownership is that I'm a manager - here to help
keep the list running smoothly, but that the content is up to all of you.
If I can help some way, let me know.
Margaret
