I am related to Kit Carson (1st cousin 5 times removed), and DNA proves a match to one of
the direct descendants of Kit Carson. So does substantial paper trail research, which I
had before the DNA test. A Carson Family Cemetery of a first cousin (my ggg-grandfather)
of Kit's is on property still in the family, continuously owned by family since the
early 1800's.
Kit is the son of Lindsey Carson. I descend from Lindsey's brother, Andrew.
One of my cousins with the Carson surname took a y-DNA test. I also took the Family
Finder test, which shows cousin connections, regardless of surnames. A relationship
within 4th or 5th distant cousins can be shown with this test. You could try the Family
Finder test to see if there is a connection.

Generally if you don't have the exact line, you are not related
to Kit Carson. :) It's an old story in almost every Carson line.

Hello,
My 80 year old grandfather said that he heard all his life that he was related to Kit
Carson. His name is Edmund Julian Womack. I have information on a lot of his family and
have found nothing on Kit Carson. Do you happen to know?
