Y-DNA testing was done on my brother, Terry Evart CARSON, by FTDNA. He tested as R1b1a2.
I have 2 first cousins who are also CARSON males (and about a dozen other relatives to
test), but the problem was they were all willing to donate their "spit" but I
needed to purchase all their kits if any testing was going to happen. Therefore, I found
FTDNA too expensive for this mass testing, so I chose
23andMe.com. Their testing results
read a bit differently, R1b1b2a1a2f*. With 23andMe I again tested my brother, but also
John Davis CARSON and Robert Lee CARSON, both sons of my father's brothers. So that
pretty well shows that my specific line of CARSON males are in the same group.
As I mentioned in an earlier post on another thread, with the Y-DNA matches on FTDNA,
there were a lot of Beattie/Beatty/Baty/Beaty matches as well as McCain. I have found both
sets of names in my genealogy research of my family tree. I have two situations of a
Beattie woman marrying into the CARSON family. One was my 3rd GG William CARSON
(1776-1846) and Margaret Beattie (1785-1869); then Martha Beatie (1732-1789) married James
Gilmore (1720-1785) who were my 5th GG; and also a distant relative of Mary Iola Beatty
(1860-1941) married to George Washington Small (1868-1962).
When my line of CARSONS came to America, they settled around Lancaster, PA before setting
out in various directions. My line went to Ohio where other brothers and their families
headed South.
