Instead of missing persons, I have people that I could not identify in what I thought was
a well documented period in my Carson family. I began my research on my families when I
was young. In facts I started gathering names while in High School. My grand parents,
parents, aunts and uncles all answered my questions and told me about cousins, family
reunions and the likes. However, I was stunned and perplexed when I found three unknown
children,Tessie 14, Dewella 10 and Dorothy 6 Crum, listed as grandchildren on the 1910
Van Etten Chemung County in the household of my great-grandmother, Elizabeth Coolbaugh
Carson and her second husband Jesse Cornell. . Hiram D and James C Carson two of her
sons by her first marriage to Erastus Carson. are also listed. Jesse Cornell who was also
a brother of my other great grandmother has one son by his first marriage, Elizabeth has
eight children by her first marriage The older daughter Martha married a Fitzpatrick. The
younger one wa!
s Charlotte and she married a Thornton and lives in Cortland County in 1920.
In regard to these Crum grandchildren., further research indicates that Charlotte married
William Crum sometime before the birth of Tessie May in
Mainesburg, Tioga County, PA. Her birth is recorded in Tioga County as Tessie M. Crumm,
born March 30, 1897 in Mainesburg, PA. Father is William W. Crumm, mother is Charlotte
May Crumm, . Dewella is not recorded there. In 1900 they are living in Troy. Bradford
County. In 1920 Charlotte is remarried and
Dorothy is living with her in Cortland county. I did not find Charlotte on the 1910
census. I know there is a
Charlotte Thornton listed in Addison in Steuben county but this is another Charlotte. I
have found no further trace of Tessie or Dewella
Crum/Crumm/Crumb. I know nothing about William. I do not have a deathdate for any on
these. Any help would be appreciated as to identifying who William Crum and any inf on
his daughters Tessie b 1897, Dewella b. 1899 and Dorothy b 1904 Crum,Thank you again
