I should have included all the information I have on George Carson
in Chester in my original email. There are actually two George Carsons
there early on.
1. George Carson (East Marlborough)
b c. 1709 (given age of wife Eleanor)
d. 1759 (will probated Dec 28, l759, written May 16, l757)
- will of George Carson states that he has brothers
Richard Carson, Robert Carson and
John Carson. Executors included George Passmore (will
of father of Eleanor
Passmore says that he has a son George).
- Richard Carson of New Castle (d 1777, see below) is
the brother of this George
Carson. His only son George transfers Quaker
membership to Wilmington where he
served an apprenticeship and is married there; Richard
was a Quaker. There appears
to be no way to identify the other two
brothers. There are two Robert Carsons, one in
Tredyffin on the tax records in 1765 and the other in
Uwchlan 1765. There is a
Robert Carson listed in the Londonderry Tax list for
1735 (unverified) and East
Fallowfield Tax List 1753 (unverified). There is a
John Carson (d. 1790 Georgia) m.
Esther (Stubbs) Cloud 1752. There is a John Carson
recipient of a land deed August
1752 identified as a merchant in Lancaster City.. .
- there is reported to be (unverified) a George Carson in
Marlborough on the 1724 Tax l
ist. There is a George Carson who is a witness to a
will in 1728 in Marlborough but
no way to establish whether it is this George Carson
- there is a George Carson W. Marlborough witness to a
will of Pusey in 1740
and one in E. Marlborough as a witness in 1745, again
no way to establish which
George Carson this might be..
m. 1st Eleanor Passmore 4 m 16 d 1736 (London Grove MM record)
b. 1709 Apr 8 Hurst, Wiltshire, England
(baptised)
d.
- will of father of Eleanor, John Passmore,
probated Chester Ct. 16 Dec 1746
states daughter is Eleanor Carson (written 1743)
- while there is no death record for Eleanor
Passmore Carson, the George Carson who
marries Hannah Pussey does so in the London Grove
MM; unlikely they would permit
marriage if his wife had not died. In a book
about the Passmore family (Robert H.
Smith, The Passmores in America, it says that
they had three children and they and
Eleanor apparently died during the period
1744-1749.

(3) John Carson
m. 2nd Hannah Pusey 7 m 5 d 1750 (London Grove MH record)
- records of New Garden MM PA record children's birth
- land records say Hannah Pussey "of Marlborough",
daughter of William Pussey
- there are no Tax List records for a George Carson
1765.
- will of George Carson states he has only one son
and does not name a wife

Garden MM
o New Garden MM minutes record a request on
Nov 2, 1765 for a certificate for
George Carson to go to Wilmington as an
apprentice at age 15. The accounts of
Richard Carson executor lists numerous
expenditures for him. He transferred
back to New Garden MM 10 m. 12 d. 1774
o records of New Garden MM of certificates
to the Wilmington MM which
apparently was where he married Lydia
Jones (certificates to and from for both)
o there is a George Carson on the Tax List
for East Marlborough 1780
o there is a George Carson in the 1790
Census for East Marlborough; difficult to
read but appears to be three females,
one male over 16 and one under. This is
consistent with daughters Phoebe and
Hannah and son George.
.
There are two George Carsons in 1800 and
none in 1810
o Quaker record Short Creek (Mt. Pleasant
MH, Jefferson Ct. OH) where George,
wife Lydia and daughter Phoebe received
on certificate from London Grove MM
Chester PA 19 July 1806
o Tax lists 1808 show George Carson Jr. in
Mt. Pleasant; two George Carsons in
1809 and there appear to be two George
Carsons in 1810.
