That's the problem, since I cannot "prove" which of the William Carsons that
came to America in 1773 was MY ancestor, I can't prove who William (born 4 July
1776-died 30 Sept. 1846) siblings were. But there wasn't a Robert nor a Sarah Jane in
any of the trees that I remember from that generation.
I can tell you that William Carson (1776-1846) CHILDREN with Margaret Beattie (1795-1869)
were.......
Hugh B. Carson (1806-1881)
William G. Carson (1808-1890)
Samuel Carson (1809-1875)
Elizabeth Carson (1811-1886)
Ebenezer Carson (1813-1877)
John Carson (1815-1816)
James Carson (1816-1888)
John B. Carson (1819-1863)
Isabella Carson (1821-1893)***
Alexander B. Carson (1823-1898)
Joseph C. Carson (1825-1898)
Daughter Carson (1831-1831)
--------------
But, hang in here with me for a minute (I know that all this is sooooo confusing...why
didn't they name their children more unique names rather than the same family names
over and over....but there is an exception....
There was one earlier William that I had in my tree that I THOUGHT was this William's
father because he was born in Ireland in 1745 and died in Ross County, Ohio in 1829. He
was married to Isabella Gilmore (1747-Ireland and died 1811 in Ross Co., Ohio).
Looking at William (1776-1846) and Margaret's children...they named one of their
girls "Isabella"...not a common female Carson's name....but it would make
sense if she was named after her grandmother Isabella Gilmore Carson. So, naming a
daughter after his own mother, and the child's grandmother, would make sense. So
consider William Carson 1745-1829 and Isabella Gilmore (1747-1811) as the POSSIBLE PARENTS
TO William (1776-1846).....
Just in case...here are the children that I have listed for William Carson (1745-1829) and
Isabella Gilmore (1747-1811) :
this would include William born 1776),
Samuel 1773-1834)
Elizabeth Betsy (1775-?)
Agnes (1770-1862)
Hugh (1782-1847)
Alonzo (1784-1840)
Ebenezer (1786-1863)
Nancy (1792-?)
James (1796-1854)
Did I just confuse you more? At least it has a reasonable clue to take us back on more
generation.
