Hi all,
The "information" I have for John and his wife Amy/Rachel White (Carson)
comes from the 1870 Census and the "History of Erie County,
Pennsylvania," Warner, Beers & Co., Chicago, (1884).
On p. 183 of W-B, within profile of William Allison:
John D. Carson came from Lancaster Co., Penn., in 1797, and moved his
family in 1801 or 1802. A copper tea-kettle carried by Mrs. Carson on
the horn of her saddle is still preserved in the family. John Carson
came from Scotland when six years old.
On p. 190 of W-B, within profile of William L. Gifford:
John D. Carson was born Jan. 11, 1808, died Aug. 14, 1864; his widow, Amy
L. Carson, was born July 8, 1810, died Oct. 4, 1880.
The 1870 Census gives the name of John D. Carson as Amy Carson and that
is therefore my preferred choice. I need to resolve the data for John D.
Carson. Can some kind soul help me? The entry for the 1860 Census for
Venango Twp. for John would be most helpful.
Best regards,
David
