Hi Susan,
We communicated a few times on the Carson findings. Have you communicated with Josette
Maxwell? She connects to some York PA Carson lines (connecting to Samuel Carson - Jane
Patterson of York) and has a lot of information.
A cluster of Carson lines from PA (York, Chester, Lancaster, Cumberland) and DE (New
Castle) moved down to NC and SC, seemingly in clusters and some to the same areas.
Findings combined with DNA show a connection among Moses Carson b1737 (married Elizabeth
Hannah, they moved to Orange NC, then Washington TN), Robert Carson b1730-35 (married
Margaret Woods, moved to Orange NC, then Guilford/Surry NC, then probably Washington TN),
John Carson in Orange NC 1762-1770s (father of John English Carson m Margaret Hunger),
Robert Carson dec'd 1760 Cumberland PA, James Carson dec'd 1807 Orange NC (wife
Mary, sons Robert A and David), William Carson in Guilford/Surry NC 1772-1779 (bondsman
for Margaret Carson m. John Reed), David Carson and John Carson in Guilford/Surry NC 1783,
Capt Joseph Carson dec'd 1790 Old 96th (Abbeville area) SC.
There is also a circumstantial connection with David Carson b1730 married Sarah Woods and
William Carson b1730 married Margaret McCord (from Lancaster PA, moved to Orange NC, then
Washington TN).
Gary
