Hi Larry,
I don't know if anybody is researching the Rebecca Robinson/Robertson,
wife of Lindsey Carson. You might want to look through postings for that
surname.
Various Carson families have stories about being related to Kit Carson. So
far there's only one other Carson line related (Andrew Carson born 1756
died 1841 Iredell NC).
An online posting by a Carson researcher awhile back quotes from a 1935
writing called "Genealogy of Five Allied Families" by Calvin D. Cowles who
descends from Andrew Carson's daughter, Nancy Caroline Carson Cowles. This
writing probably misled a lot of Carson researchers because it contains
errors.
"William Carson (grandfather of Kit Carson) and his brother Moses Carson
left Penn. in 1750, and settled in Northwestern North Carolina, just over
the mountains from Washington Co. Tenn. Also in this group were three
brothers, William, Robert and James Carson. They were cousins of the above William
and Moses Carson. The cousin James Carson had a neighboring land grant to
William Carson, grandfather to Kit Carson. The cousin James Carson had a
son Andrew Carson born 1765. He moved to Washington Co. Tenn, and married Nov
3, 1790 in Washington Co Co. to Elizabeth Cates. Andrew and Elizabeth
Carson later moved to Cocke Co. Tenn. They had five sons and three daughters,
names unknown, some of whom lived in Cocke Co. Tenn. and some in Sevier Co.
Tenn."
Two male Carson descendants of Moses Carson through son Andrew Carson
don't match male Carson descendants of Lindsey and Andrew Carson of Iredell NC
on YDNA results. However, Moses' line matches a descendant of Robert
Carson who migrated with Moses Carson to NC. The Andrew Carson of Washington Co
TN who married 3 Nov 1790 married to Elizabeth Hannah (not Cates unless she
was a widow). The rest of this writing is up to questioning given these
YDNA results.

In your Carson Project do you have anyone with information or is working on
the mother (Rebecca Robertson/Robinson/Roberson) of Kit Carson's line?
From the time I was a little lad I was told that Kit Carson was a
first
cousin to my GG Grandfather -- William Riley Robertson. But, nobody knew
how. A photo of Wm. R. Robertson bears a great resemblance to Kit.
By the way, I had spoken to Mrs. Doris Machado a grand-daughter of Lindsey
Carson -- Kit's younger brother -- who related to me, "that the correct
spelling of their mother was Robertson, regardless what the researchers
said." She went on and said, "My grandfather was a good speller and he
always spelled his mother's name as Robertson."
