If your still around I am a 5th Great Grandson of Thomas and Mary Smith
Carson. About half of your info is correct and the other half is a mix up
with their son Thomas who also married a Mary nee Gibson.
The family story of two brothers has never been confirmed but if true the
brothers probably are two who settled in Northern Ohio. There was a Thomas
in Lanchaster related to the one who went to NC Territory present day Ky
where Kit was born. But there is no know verifiable tie from our line to
Kits, even though many want to create it.
My self and a 5th cousin whose closest tie is Thomas have matched DNA
35/37 verifying our lines to Thomas. I am from the line of the second son
Thomas, he is from the Son John who inherited the family farm. Our DNA is
Nordic Viking from before Western Surnames were taken, when they invaded
the current day British Isles. 45% of Carson's are from this "I" DNA, the
other 55% are native to the Scotish Clan McPherson and are R type DNA. This
R type is from my understanding that of Kit and the Tonight Shows Johnny
Carson. The link between R and I does not exist for 30,000 years to
southern Germany when they split.
Thomas was not buried at Speers, his Son Thomas was, so were sons William
and John and Daughter Sarah Carson Parker and some grandchildren. Thomas
and Mary Smith Carson were buried along the fence line on their original
farm and there grave site was lost to later family members although the
modern family cemetery Maple Creek est 1870 was part of that original
family farm. Their unmarked graves may be there or anywhere in the area.
Present day Interstate 70 runs right through the original farm and where
their original home once stood and is just North of Maple Creek Cemetery.
My Grandparents through my 3rd Great Grandparents are buried there.
I hope this helps you and everyone in the future.
Jay Fred Carson Jr.
