Hello Josette and Listers:
I believe we have corresponded before about the Carson surname in Franklin and Cumberland
counties, PA.
My great-grandfather Robert Thomson (1815--1883) born and died in Allegheny Co., PA, was
married to Ellen B. Carson (1831--1898). Ellen was born in Butler Co., PA, according to
her death certificate, but was raised in Allegheny Co., PA, Allegheny City.
Robert was the fifth child born to James Thomson (1772--1847) born in Lurgan Twp.,
Cumberland Co., PA/ now Green Twp., Franklin Co., PA. James migrated into western PA,
Ross Twp., Allegheny Co., PA with wife Nancy Wright (b.c. 1776--d.c. 1815) in March 1807
where James was a sicklemaker by trade.
Ellen B. Carson's parents were James Carson (1800, Carlisle, PA--1875, Old Allegheny,
Allegheny Co., PA) and Mary Geer (1810 Cumberland PA--1885 Old Allegheny, Allegheny Co.
PA. Both are buried in the Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA, with Robert Thomson and
his wife Ellen B. nee Carson Thomson. These dates of birth and death are taken from the
archives of the Allegheny Cemetery.
[NOTE: This couple's fifth child, my maternal grandfather was Richard Barkley Thomson
(1875--1931, born and raised in Allegheny Co., PA). The "Barkley" middle name
for Richard was undoubtedly a family name passed on, but my Mother never knew from which
side. Have always wondered if Ellen's middle initial "B" stands for
Barkley, and if it is from the Geer side of the family.]
I have been at a dead end for years on who James Carson's (1800--1875) parents and
siblings were, as well for his wife Mary nee Geer Carson (1810--1885).
Am willing to share what I have about these families, and would so appreciate hearing from
anyone with further details about the CARSON GEER THOMSON and WRIGHT families in
Cumberland or Franklin Cos., PA.

Would greatly appreciate it if you could look for the
surnames Maxwell and Carson. How early are we talking
about? My Maxwells/Carsons left the area by circa 1790.
Would also apprciate your looking for Andrew Morrison
and his wife whose name may be Helen. Died circa 1830.
Thanks
Josette Maxwell
