Where did you get the information about Col. John Hollis and his son, Capt.
John Hollis, who was connected with Francis Marion. the information that I
have is that Lt. Moses Hollis fought with Gen. Francis Marion. You will find
a reference in the book "A History of the Old Cheraws". But if you have some
other information or source, I would appreciate having it.
If I ever get more information on the Bankheads, I will send it to you.

Dear Don,
Hello. Thanks for writing. This email will be in response to two items.
Firstly, regarding your query above, I have listed that information below.
Secondly, regarding the BANKHEAD ancestry that I am searching for Mollee
PUCKETT and Susan BOLLINGER have been helping me try to track down this
information. And information that Susan BOLLINGER has sent to me appears to
quite probably connect to the BANKHEAD family that I am searching for. My
indicators, so far, are that it is a separate line, or branch, of BANKHEAD
from that of the family of Hugh BANKHEAD family but not connect in more
recent history. I am interested in finding out if anyone knows more about
this. At this time, if all connections turn out, it looks as if the Thomas
BANKHEAD, (born: July 1850 in Mississippi, who married Jane?/June? M. ?,
born: abt. Aug 1852, and married in 1902 in Coryell, Texas, and was the
father of Eugene BANKHEAD, born: 05/18 Dec 1878 in Texas, who married Minnie
CARSON,) is the same Thomas BANKHEAD, born: 31 July 1850 in Marshall,
Mississippi, died: 24 Mar 1919 in Merkel, Taylor County, Texas, who was the
son of Nancy Ann OLIPHANT, (mother: Mary ?, father: Richard OLIPHANT,) and
Robert BANKHEAD, born: 1829 in Chester County, South Carolina, died: 1862
in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, married: 05 Mar 1846 in Fayette Co.,
Tennessee, who was the son of Mary ?/LAST? and husband, Thomas BANKHEAD,
born: 1786/1787 in Chester Co., South Carolina, died: Nov 1849 Marshall,
Mississippi or Holly Springs, Mitchell Co., Mississippi, (moved to Alabama in
1833 and by 1835 into Mississippi,) who was the son of James BANKHEAD, born:
1747 in Scotland, died: 1821 in Chester Co., South Carolina, immigrated from
Scotland through Ireland on the ship, "BETTY GREGG," in Nov 1767which left
from Belfast, Ireland, and immigrating with him and onboard the ship was a
man named John BANKHEAD who was, according to source: Murray GREGG, his
cousin.
Looking forward to hearing from anyone who might have more information on
whether or not this is the correct family for the Thomas BANKHEAD I mentioned
at the first of the email whom is the father of Eugene BANKHEAD. Also
interested in any more information on this BANKHEAD lineage and whether or
not it connects to the Hugh BANKHEAD lineage. In advance, I thank you for
any help regarding this matter. And the other information regarding the
HOLLIS question is below.
My source for the information on Captain John HOLLIS being with General
Francis MARION was on the website which I have linked below.
