Hi Gary -- I agree with your thoughts on the Carson immigrants. I have one
Carson ancestor that I have not been able to find any more about. MARY CARSON
born ca 1783 married GEORGE BRATTON and lived in Plum Twp, Allegheny Co, PA.
Their first know children were Jane, William, James and Sarah -- I agree with
your thoughts about names. It is likely Mary's parents names were Jane and
James Carson. George's father was William Bratton.
There were Carsons in Allegheny Co and also in Butler Co, PA in those days.
George Bratton was born in York Co, PA and he had a job moving back and forth
across Pennsylvania. So he could have met Mary Carson almost anywhere.
My strongest thought is that George met her in Butler Co, PA because that is
where his older brother Paris Bratton lived. Paris was married in Butler Co
in 1800. George and Mary's first child was born in 1802 so I'd guess they
married in 1801.
If anyone has any thoughts about a MARY CARSON born ca 1783 in Pennsylvania
-- please let me know. I have worked on this for years but have not found
anything on my Mary Carson's ancestry.
Thanks,
Nancy
