I see you have 3 CARSON households in NH. and 1 in ME in the 1790 census. Where did you
get that information and how can I examine it further? My elusive CARSON fathered a son in
NH in 1900 and the child was raised by the mother's family in or near
Eaton, NH. He was given the name Ralph Harry ALLARD. Any help with this mystery would be
much appreciated. Dorothy

Susan,
In my previous reply I mentioned that most Carsons in the 1790 US census were in PA, and
most had arrived there from N. Ireland (although they were previously in
Scotland/England). Here is the exact breakdown of Carson households by state in 1790:
PA = 50
NC = 28
SC = 20
MD = 4
NY = 4
NH = 3
CT = 1
ME = 1
RI = 1
Total 112
Migration patterns indicate that most of the western NC Carson families probably
originated in PA.
