Thought I'd share some information I've dug up on
Walter and Agnes Carson who arrived in the US before
1743, settled in what is now Adams County Pennsylvaania.
They are listed as witnesses to a Quaker wedding in
1751. I looked up the certificates of those listed
as witnesses - Quakers are given these documents when
they left a meeting in ireland and headed for the US
Found several listed:
Jacob Hinshaw, Grange Meeting, Charlemont Ct. Armagh
Ireland, dated 2/3/l741
Daniel Winter Ballyhagen Meeting, Ct. Armagh, 4/5/1737
John Wilson "Limerick Ireland" 3/15/l735
Thomas and John Blackburn, Ballyhagen Mtg, Ct. Armagh
1749
William Delap, Ballyhagen Mtg., Ct. Armagh 1747.
Given the probability of people from Ireland settling
together, it might be a working hypothesis that Walter
and Agnes came from Ct. Armagh. I am also intrigued
by the date for Jacob Hinshaw since we believe (haven't
seen the records) that Walter was warranted land in
Adams county in 1741. He was warranted land in 1743
(have seen the document) with both Walter and Agnes
signing the deeding as grantors of this land in 1763.
