Hi,
No, this wouldn't be the same James. My James was in Jackson Co. AL in
1840, Talladega Co AL in 1850, and died in 1853 (he is buried in Calhoun
Co.). From what my cousins and I have been able to piece together, he
lived somewhere near the Calhoun and Talladega county lines. His wife's
name was Nancy Bruce. They had several children, but only two boys,
Garland Carson (born abt. 1832--seems to have disappeared without a trace
after the 1850 census) and John Bruce Carson (born Jun 8, 1838, my
G-Grandfather). Some of the girls were Harriet, Nancy, Carolyn, Elizabeth,
and Mrs. Reddoch's query listed a daughter Tina Lewiza (this is probably
correct, I know there was a daughter born about 1830-1831, but I have not
been able to verify the name myself yet).
I don't know if there were any relatives in Lauderdale Co. I know there
were some Carson's in Blount Co. in the same timeframe that were probably
related, and many of John Bruce's descendants still live there. Any of
this sound familiar to anyone?
