Hi List,
Anyone working or have information on the CARSON's living in Derry Township,
Westmoreland Co., Pa. in the 1800's? One of my 3rd great paternal grandmother's
was Annie CARSON who married, Oct 22, 1818 Derry Twp., Westmoreland Co., Pa., Henry GREGG.
My source on this marriage date and location is: Westmoreland County Marriages &
Deaths from Weekly Newspapers 1818-1865 Vol. 1 by Fischer, Gregg, Henry & Ann Carson
both Derry Twp. married 10-22-1818 by John Shaw Esq. (10-31-1818). Family information
passed down as always said Henry GREGG was married to Annie CARSON. I feel she has a
connection to Joseph CARSON, found in the 1790's Census Derry Twp., Westmoreland Co.
Pa., since she named one of her sons Joseph Carson GREGG and both CARSON's and
GREGG's live in Derry Twp. As usual I can't prove it.
I've been able to find Joseph CARSON in the 1790 (only CARSON I could find),1800 and
1810 Census Derry Twp., Westmoreland Co. I'm assuming the CARSON males I found in the
1800, 1810 and 1820 are his sons. I couldn't find Joseph after 1810 and feel he must
of died or living with one of his son's and I misread something. By 1830 Derry Twp.,
I found the GREGG's and the CARSON's living close to each other.
I also feel Prine CARSON, in the 1830 Census Derry Twp., could be a brother, or related in
some way, to Annie. From the passed down family information on my GREGG line, Margaret F.
GREGG, Henry GREGG's sister, married Prine CARSON.
I have a little more on the CARSON's and willing to share.
Any help is appreciated.
