Mary, My heart stopped when I read your post. My great grandfather William Carson was born
in Co Tyrone. After he came to the US he married Sarah Carson also born in Ireland,
probably Tyrone, though she was reportedly a teacher in Armagh before she came over.
Sarah's parents were Mary Irwin and Joseph Carson. Williams parents were Rebecca Scott
and John Carson. As if things weren't confusing enough, a Carson married a Carson.
Apparently William's siblings included Alexander, Robert who died in Pittsburgh of
spinal meningitis, Jennie who married a Livinston(e) and who had a daughter who went to
Carnegie tech, and Sarah who married a Crawford and had 7 girls.
They returned to Tyrone long enough to have two of their children: Joseph, born June 26
1887 and Rebecca born May 18, 1886. Back in the states, Wm and Sarah added Florence,
Mary, and Edith to the family. They lived in Boston MA.
Much of this information initially came from an elderly great aunt, now deceased. Some
of it I was able to verify.
Except for my great grandparents I have no solid information on anyone else who came to
the US. It seems to be that what I know is somewhat different from your information, but
there are enough similarities to be worth checking in with you. Any documentation I do
have I shall be more than glad to share with you. I'm only sorry it took so long to
read your mail...I had sickness and death in the family then moved so things were all
mixed up.
Thank you for any impressions you may have re this information. Sandy H.
