Am looking for any clues as to where I might try and find out more on my
g.g.father - James Robert Carson and his wife, Mary Elizabeth Egan -
undoubtly came from Ireland, though Carson is a Scots name.
They had a son, James Robert Carson, who was surposed to have been born in
Phoenix, Arizona about 1875. He eventually came to Australia and in 1913
married my g.mother Margaret May Johnson, in Collingwood, Victoria.
He was employed as an assistant surveyor at Poweltown, Victoria.
They moved to Terowie in South Australia, where he worked as an engine
fitter. Here his twin daughters were born, November 1913.
He is said to have joined the Army for WW1 and died on the poppy fields of
France.
I have tried so many areas to locate him but come up with the proverbial
brick wall.
There is nothing to say he joined up, no record of him in Poweltown. Also
nothing from Phoenix either.
My mother says she was surposed to have been sent to Canada to live with
relations (either Carson or Egan) after he died.
My father thinks he may have come back to live in New South Wales, a State
of Australia.
There are many Carsons in New Zealand, that I have asked my sister to look
there.
I would be most grateful for any Carsons that may be able to help me with this.
I recently got addresses of Carsons and Egans, listed in Phoenix and will
write to them.
Cheers, Jane
