Family tradition says that my GGG grandfather's second wife was the
sister-in-law of Kit Carson. Since they were married 17 Aug 1853 at Ft.
Gibson, Indian Territory, and I can only find one brother who died
before then, I'm looking for information on Hampton Carson's wife and
children.
The Carson-Bent-Boggs book says:
Hampton Carson b. 23 May 1812 Howard Co., Missouri d. before
1850
m. 4 Jan 1838 Howard Co., Missouri to Arminta Crews (or Arminty
or Annita or Araminta)
John H. Carson b. 1842 d. 1917
Owen Carson
Lindsey Carson
I wonder if there was another son, Jerry Carson b. abt 1848
The 1870 census for the Garrison at Ft. Smith, Arkansas has my GGG
grandfather with his second wife, a daughter by his first marriage, a
daughter from this second marriage, and what I assume is his step-son.

I've been unable to find a 1860 census entry for them. Ella was born 2
Jul 1859 at Ft. Arbuckle, Chicasaw Nation (now Garvin Co., Oklahoma).
Unfortunately, if this is the same person who married Hampton, she would
have been 11 years old at her first marriage to Hampton, based on the
dates on her tombstone: "America Rounds, wife of L.F. Rounds
4-26-1827/12-10-1907" buried in the Erin Springs, Garvin Co., Oklahoma
Cemetery. Her name also appears as Amenca Carson.
Any ideas/theories/information would be appreciated.
Thanks,
