Hi, Michelle - Well, I'm glad at least one of my emails got thru to you.
Yes, I have Carsons from Washington Co PA: Catharine (?nee McCutcheon) Carson was born
there abt 1794/5/6. Her kids Sarah Jane and Robert were born in Franklin Co. And maybe
insane Ellener, too. There were both Carsons and McCutcheons in Franklin Co in the late
1700s/early 1800s. Robert Carson went to Wabash Co IN in abt 1848 (abt age 20) and md a
McCutcheon there. So I have always wondered whether the two families were connected in
Franklin Co.
I don't have death certificates for any of these folks but do have obits for Sarah
Jane and brother Robert (a really BIG funeral) and Ellener (just a 1-2 sentence notice of
her death). I'd be happy to send these to you.
Sarah Jane's obit (1904) says she arrived in Wabash Co IN at age 18 (i.e. abt 1852)
with her mother. But obit does not mention mother's name, brother Robert or sister
Ellener. Robert's obit (1880) doesn't mention sibs' or mother's names,
either.
There are quite a few Carsons and McCutcheons bd in close proximity at the Union/Pleasant
Grove cemetary in Wabash Co. Abbotts nearby.
I'm not clear on the specifics of the following info but here's the gist: A Carson
male went to Washington Co. (?from Franklin Co) in prob 1770s and all of his sons but one
went too. That son ended up in Franklin Co, and I am assuming this is (?Robert) that
Catharine md. I don't know why Catharine went from Washington to Franklin County.
Please let me know if this is of any help to you.
Best wishes,
Linda Abbott Tracy

Hi Linda, I got your second email but not the first. Do you
know where in PA your Carson's came from? Mine are from
Washington Co PA. There is some history written about my
Carson's so I was able to trace the family through that.
Have you found any death certificates for your
Carson's? Sometimes they will give more info, if they
are available.
Michelle

Hi, Michelle - Thanks for your email about the Carsons of
Kansas via Indiana. I have Carsons born PA then moving to
Wabash Co IN in 1840s/50s: sibs Robert Carson 1827-1880,
Sarah Jane Carson 1833/4/5 to 1904, and Ellener Carson abt
1815-1870 (insane, per census). The mother of these three is
possibly Catharine McCutche(o)n Carson 1776 PA to abt 1867
Wabash Co. I have nothing back further, but hope to find out
more. Catharine was "wife of R. Carson", per her
tombstone; I think she was born in Washington Co PA; Sarah
Jane and Robert b Franklin Co PA; I don't know what
county poor Ellener was born in.
Y0ur name is very familiar to me from the internet, and I
am wondering whether we may have corresponded previously. I
am happy to share all of my information.
Best wishes, Linda Abbott Tracy
