Have you considered doing a YDNA test? A male Carson descendant of your ancestor, Thomas
Carson born 1740 Scotland of Washington Co PA (married a Smith), and I match 35 of 37
markers on the test, indicating a close connection back there. Here's the report from

It should be interesting to see our level of DNA match. I descend from a Robert Carson
born c1730 who came to Lancaster Co PA c1750s (married Margaret Woods) and moved to
western NC (Orange Guilford) then apparently Washington/Greene TN (through son David
