Hi. John Carson was my great great great grandfather, and married Sarah Macintyre. I
don't have his date of birth, but my great grandfather was called Rev John Kennedy,
and he was interested in the family history. In 1977 he wrote a manuscript about what he
remembered about his grandparents in Bellaghy (he himself was born in Glasgow but they
used to visit Bellaghy).
In the manuscript I've got, my great grandfather remembers his grandfather (John
Carson) as being very old (nineties if I remember correctly). There are a few other
details there as well which might help with dates- apparently John Carson wasn't born
in Bellaghy, but nearby. His daughter Brbara Ellen Carson (my great great grandmother) was
born in 1859.
John and Sarah Carson's offspring were:
Margaret Ann Carson, who married an Orcadian called Will Hay and moved to New Zealand
George Carson- moved to Ediunburgh and managed a co-op warehouse
David Carson- moved to USA then returned to Glasgow to manage another co-op
Barbara Ellen Carson- see above
Andrew Carson- became a chief inspector in the police in Glasgow
Solomon Carson- youngest son and stayed to look after the farm in Bellaghy
There was another sister who also moved to NZ, don't know her name, and another son
who my great grandfather didn't know much about as he states in his manuscript.
Hope this helps- I've only just started to look into it. I've got a box full of
photos, and there's one very small one with a picture of the family farm in Bellaghy.
I've not got round to uploading/anotating them. Let me know if any of this is of
interest.
Best wishes
Chris
