A graveside service for Barbara A. Read, 78, of Newark, Ohio will be held on Wednesday,
November 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Jeff Smith
officiating.
Barbara was born in Newark, Ohio on July 13, 1931 to the late Henry and Helen (Livingston)
Carson. She passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on Sunday, November 15, 2009 while
surrounded by her family.
Barbara and her husband, Glen, were the former owners of Arensberg Pharmacy for over 50
years. She enjoyed making crafts and collecting Heisey Glass.
She enjoyed going to her children's sporting events. She also coached the Hazelwood
Trotters Biddy League Basketball Team.
One of her favorite times of the year were the holidays. She enjoyed decorating her home,
cooking for her family and they especially loved her homemade noodles and pies.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Glen W. Read, whom she married on December 24,
1951; one daughter, Shanna Read of Newark; two sons, Jeffery (Susan) Read of Granville,
Ohio and Kevin (Susan Aiello) Read of Newark; brother, Brent (Sharon) Carson of Newark;
granddaughter, Katie (Chad Weirick) Read of Newark; grandson, Kris (Brea) Read of Newark;
and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Donald
Carson; and two sisters, Betty Jones and Jean Moody.
