Subject: [CARSON] Carson lines in TN (Wilson, Greene, Blount,Washington
counties)
Philip,
The William Carson estate you mention was in 1787 Greene Co TN
(administered
by David and John Carson). It was not Washington TN as you
indicated.
There were 5 David Carson individuals and 4 William Carson individuals in
Greene/Washington TN 1790-1799. In Washington TN were David Sr, David
Jr.,
Little
David, plain David, and in Greene TN (later Jefferson and Blount)
was a
David
Carson.
William Carson's estate in Greene Co TN 1787 was administered by David
Carson and John Carson (and widow Sarah Carson) and Alexander Gilbreath.
John
Carson Jr. was a witness. William Carson (in his 1787 Greene TN
will)
refers to
David and John Carson as my "trusty and beloved friends"
which suggests
David and John weren't immediate family although possibly related. In
his
1787
will, William Carson mentions a son but doesn't give his name.
In the 1791 Greene Co TN tax list, John Carson Sr. had 600a, David Carson
and Robert Carson had 0 acres. In 1792 Greene Co TN, John Carson Sr had
500a,
David Carson had 100a and Robert Carson had 0 acres. This suggests
that
David was a son of John Sr. In 1794 Jefferson Co TN (formed from Greene
Co),
David Carson was on a jury. In 1797 Blount Co TN, David Carson is
on
juries
(Blount was formed from Jefferson). Circumstantially and
geographically,
this
suggest this David was related to John Sr.
The William Carson whose will was administered May 1790 Washington Co TN
had
sons named William, David, Robert and John, and daughters
Jennet/Janet and
Mary, and wife Margaret. This was a different William from the one in
Greene
TN. His oldest son William Carson Jr. had married Ruth Carson 1785
in
Greene
TN. So, this connects these Carson families.
The David Carson who married Mary Burke in 1794 Washington TN could be one
of the 5 Davids. David Carson who married Mary Burke had an oldest son
named
John Carson (born 1795). This suggests David's father was likely
named
John,
which, in turn, suggests a connection to the John Carson Sr. in
Greene
TN.
