Sadly, this happens all too often. Sometimes what is intended only for
someone to consider or study is all over the Internet before the person
realizes it. I recently spent an hour with a woman who was trying to decide
if she wanted to give her years of tedious expensive research to a relative
who wrote and said I would like all of your research and info. She and her
husband had spent hours studying records and putting the facts together. I
do not know her final decision but two days later she found on Ancestry some
of her earlier work that she had given him. There is just too much of this.
I am currently working on a line that comes into my Carson line about 1900.
It is a large family with the father having nearly 25 children by at least
two marriages. He has one daughter before 1800, 6 children between
1800-1810, 6 between 1810-1820, 6 to 8 in the next 10 years and three in the
following five years. We have found at least three children that died in
infancy. Now I have spent hours going over census to reconstruct the ages
and sex of the children in his family. We have no will or probate only one
land record to date. We are working on theory. We have candidates for some
of the positions but will probably never find all of them. I did this with
my early carson family and it took 20 years to prove the theory.. My early
Carson ancestor is Samuel and Mary Carson of Cortland County, Ny arriving
in NY in about 1796 to pick up the bounty land claim of his wife's dead
uncle. According to some of the children's naturalization application, they
came with a boat load of family. Where is the rest of the family? This
family too claims to be related to Kit Carson, the frontiersman. Cousins
get upset when I tell them no proof. Then again I usually answer yes and
clarify it. You see my paternal grandfather's name was Kit Carson. He was
not Christopher but Kit. Thanks Marilyn

Subject: Re: [CARSON] Kit Carson's grandmother Agnes Boone
Regarding Agnes Boone. There is no record. She is apparently a
figment
of
someone's imagination. The mother of Rebecca Robinson Carson was
Elizabeth
(possibly Fulton. Two marriages of Rebecca's sisters, her twin
Jean or
Jane
who married James McMullin in Botetourt County, Virginia in 1788 and
Sarah
who married John Sawyer in 1786 give parents names and James and Elizabeth
Robinson and James Robinson respectfully. Also the Will of James
Robertson
in Shelby County, Kentucky lists his wife's name as Elizabeth.
The Will
also lists all of the children including Rebecca Carson and her sister
Jane
Carson the wife of Robert Carson after the death of James McMullin.
I have e-mailed the originator of this myth several times asking for
documentation. I have gotten no answer. Sadly it is now all over the
internet and Elizabeth has been forgotten.
I have done extensive research on this family because family tradition, as
is the case with many other, claims that Kit Carson was a first cousin to
my
gg grandfather William Riley Robertson.

Records on Ancestry state that Rebecca Robinson, Kit's mother, was the
daughter of James Robinson and Agnes Boone.
Does anyone have any record of Agnes Boone's parents and how she ties into
the Boone Family.
Thanks
