So there isn't anything beyond John Carson that was married to Sarah Dickey? If so, was his son Samuel the one married to Jane or Janet? It is so confusing.

I sent an email to you, but it came back to me. I am hoping for some clarification on the Carson family that ended up in Harrison County, Ohio. I have it back as far as Walter (b 1738) but it gets very confusing beyong him.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is awesome. I am a granddaughter of a Carson, so sadly it will not work for me. You seem to have many of my ancestors though. I am from the Pennsylvania Carsons that eventually ended up in Harrison County, Ohio. I am having a very difficult time sorting out the Carson's beyond Walter in Pennsylvania.
Thank you for posting.

I do, but that area of the tree is where everything gets confusing. There was quite a bit of discussion on here about that generation back around the year 2001. I am desperately trying to find some more updated information. If I find something, I will share and I hope you will do the same.

I am looking for information prior to Walter Carson (1738-1766) of Pennsylvania. I am so confused beyond that. How many Samuels preceded him? The names for the wives are so close and there is so much conflicting information. Also, it appears that Walter (mentioned above) served in the Revolutionary War, but then I locate things that seem to make me think I have the wrong one. There also seems to be some argument in 2001 on the actual existence of Alexander Harvey Carson of Scotland.Has anyone found anymore documentantion since that point? I am just very curious.

I have seen your posts about Alexander Harvey Carson. Has there been anymore progess since the 2001 posts?
Also, was his son and grandson named Samuel? For some reason I had his son as John who was married to Sarah Dickey. Am I really off course? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the notice. The more YDNA participants in the Carson project, the better for everybody's research.
I couldn't find your family tree based on using Carson/Corlett. Is there a direct link you can provide? You can send directly to me via email. Thanks.

My older brother is a direct line Carson male. We just had him to do a YDNA test and send it in. We know we came into America in 1773 from Ireland. Settled in PA but branches of the family separated after Revolutionary War. My branch went to Ohio, then Nebraska and ended up in Oklahoma with the Cherokee Strip Land Run in north central Oklahoma.
Feel free to visit my tree on ancestry.com. It is "Carson/Corlett"

Rachel Minervia Carson is in my husband's family tree. I have a lot of info on her descendants, I'm told she is a full blood Native Indian, most likely Cherokee. I'm trying to trace that to be sure but not having any luck.

While it is documented that Samuel Carson m. Jane
Patterson, it is not documented that William was
her father although it is quite probable. I would
also suggest that the William Patterson d. 1745
most likely would have been the brother of Jane
Patterson m. Samuel Carson rather than her father.
Samuel Carson remarried in 1757. Last son of Samuel
and Jane was Francis b. 1744. Is there any indication
of the age of the William Patterson d. 1745?

The line of Samuel Carson is well researched. There
is, however, some confusion in the Carolinas between
the Samuel Carson line and the John Carson line (John
came from Franklin County PA first to York SC then to
Rutherford County NC. This John Carson was the son
of Walter and Agness Carson of Menallan, Adams Co. PA.
There is proof that Samuel Carson m. Jane and Walter
Carson m. Agness were blood relatives but not whether
brothers or cousins. The names of their children are
almost identical. And, two of the children of Walter
m. Agnss as well as almost all the children of Samuel
m. Jane moved either to North or South Carolina.
Samuel was in Chester County by 1724 and Walter by
1729 (tax rolls).
I have info on almost all of the children of Samuel
and John if anyone is interested.

Supposedly Samuel Carson of London Grove, Chester County, Pennsylvania, was first married to Jane Patterson, daughter of a William Patterson (WP had 1745 will in Paxton, Lancas-ter Co., Pa.)
Was just reading over said William Patterson's 1745 will. In it he mentions seven children: Sons Samuell, Frances [Francis], and Robert, and daughters Ann Patterson, Caytron [Catherine] McNitt, Jayn [Jane] TAYLOR, and Marey [Mary] Elder. No wife or other children were named or mentioned in William's will. An Arthur Patterson (possibly a relative) was a witness. The will was dated 23 Sep 1745 and proved on 22 Oct 1745. Executors named were Robert Taylor (son-in-law possibly) and Robert Baker. Witnesses were Robt. Harris, Arthur Patterson, & William McCluer [McClure?].
So unless someone found documentation that this Jayn married a second time after her Taylor marriage, then who was Samuel Carson's first wife?

George Clifford Carson was my ggrandfather. His son, James Herbert was my grandfather and he died when my father was only 9 yrs. old. I am having trouble finding any info of the Carson family beyond my ggrandfather as my dad is now in his early 70's and doesn't remember names. Anyone who has any connections or info would be much appreciated. My father was born and raised in Wayne County, WV if this is useful.
