OK, you caused me to go digging in the attic for my Grandfathers Papers to try to figure out who you are....lol. He has geneolgy sheets on family members.
On Alex F. sheet I see your mother must be either Iva Jane Carson b 8/2/1938 or Ruth Ann Carson b 12/20/1939 and you have an Uncle Charles Scott Carson 7/3/1946. I have sheets for Ruth and Charles but not for Iva. If Iva is your mother I have no info, which is strange, because my Grandfathers Records are very thourgh.
If you mother is Ruth Ann and Father is Anthony James Dury then you must be Jodie Lynn or Scott Anthony?????
If your Uncle goes by Chuck and had a major electrical accident in the 1970's then I met him a number of times back then when I was in my teens, including when he was recovering from the accident. He would come to see my Dad when we were on vacation at my Grandparents home Fred and Emma Carson, I believe he had his children a couple of times.
I remember my Grandmother talking about Ruth Ann often over my boyhood years but I don't know if I met her, I don't recall conversation about Iva.
I won't check this site often so email me jayfcarson(a)gmail.com

I am Iva's daughter. My Grandmother, Viola, and Fred used to go to dinner together at Eat N Park almost everyday after my grandfather died. She really enjoyed those trips because my granddad was never one for eating out and she used to cook dinner everynight for pretty much their entire marriage....so going out and having someone cook for her was heaven. I don't have much of anything (photo or anything else) of Alex S. I would love copies of anything you have. It would be great to swap info and photos. I was born in 1959 and I can vaguely remember a family reunion at my greatgrandfathers farm. There were lots of people there. It kills me to drive by there now that the house and barn are gone. I have a lot of good memories there.

Jay F Carson Jr 5th-Great Grandson of Thomas and Mary Smith
jayfcarson(a)gmail.com
Actually: As a teenager I worked with my Grandfather Fred Carson (Jesse Frederick Jr.) on our family history. At that time he had a letter that has since disappeared.
The letter stated that Thomas Carson b1740 m Mary Smith, sailed in the early 1760's with two un-named brothers and a sister Elizabeth Carson on a ship named the "Gale" out of Ulster Ireland and landed in Philidelphia. Thomas and Elizabeth their way to Followfield Township, PA. The letter did not state where the brothers went.
This letter was a typed copy and I have no idea of the origin or author and is not in the family papers my grandfather left to me.
Also; I found reference to Thomas and Mary in the bi-centenial edition of the volumns of the Daughters of the American Revolution, page 103, where he is listed as an active Private in the American Revolution. I have not at this time made the effort to get the formal evidence to submit to the Sons of the American Revolution, but it is a long term goal for me.

Greetings: I would be a third cousin, 3 times removed; our grandfathers were 1st cousins and very good friends.
You can reach me directly at jayfcarson(a)gmail.com put something in the subject line about carson family tree.
I was excited to read your post as I was the first generation born and lived outside of Washington Co, and since the death of my grandparents I have had little contact with the Carson family there. I did attend the 1995 reunion, an was at the family cemetery about two weeks ago on my way to D.C. I currently reside in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Who is your mother???
Your grandfather Alex and my grandfather Fred (Jesse Frederick Jr.) were first cousins and very good friends, especially in later years. I believe Alex was a great comfort to Fred when my grandmother Emma died, then I believe Alex passed a few months after. While never living in PA, I encounted your grandfather often while visiting my grandparents as a youth and young adult.
Ross Sr. and my Great Grandfather Jesse Frederick were brothers. Like your grandfather, I knew Ross Sr. and Jesse as I seen them on vacations to my grandparents. I was 14 when Ross Sr. passed and 12 when Jesse passed.
I have a number of original artifacts of Jesse and Ross Sr. father, Alexander Scott Carson b. May 10, 1838 d Jan 2, 1921. I have the original "wedding" picture of Alexander Scott and Elizabeth Myers Carson b 1860 d 1917 from 1883 (note: If you visit their grave in the Northeast corner of Maple Creek Cemetery you will find her maiden name wrong on her headstone, the stone says MEyers, it was MYERS) I also have Alex S. fancy 18K gold working pocket watch from 1885 with his initals in fancy scroll on the back of it, but I have no information on how he came upon such an exquist piece. I also have several pictures of Alexander S., including a family pic with all 5 boys, uessing Ross Sr. to be about 5-6yr old in the pic.
Anyway, I have lots of info, if you need any and contact me I will share.
Gods Speed,
Jay F. Carson, Jr., 3214 Water Wheel Run, Fort Wayne, IN 46818

I'm looking for information on the children of Matthew Carson age 55 in Pickens Co SC 1850 census. He married Mrs. Jane Hays 1847 Pickens SC (apparently his third wife...first wife Rhoda Rose, second wife Elizabeth Betsy Coward). This Matthew Carson was apparently the older brother of my ancestor, Samuel Carson born 1804 of Buncombe/Haywood NC. Matthew was in Haywood NC 1820-1840.
Children in Matthew's household in 1850 Pickens SC were:
James Carson 16 (born c1834)
Robert Carson 15 (born c1835)
Andrew Carson 12 (born c1838)
Elizabeth Carson 10 (born c1840)
John Carson 7 (born c1843)
Nancy Carson 5 (born c1845)
In 1860 Pickens SC, Jane Carson (Matthew's widow) is living with children Harriett Carson 10 and Matthew Carson 8. This son Matthew is later in Rabun GA. In 1860 Pickens SC, Nancy Carson age 13 is living with Joab Lewis 60 and wife Vilante 47. A Nathaniel Carson age 18 is living with Samuel A. Geary in Pickens SC (though his age is off...if Mathew's son). I've not the other children in 1860.
Any information is appreciated.
Thanks,
Gary

The Matthew Carson age 55 in Pickens SC 1850 (married Mrs. Jane Hays in 1847) appears to be the Matthew in Haywood NC 1820-1840 (son of David Carson).
Matthew Carson born c1843-1844 SC living in Rabun SC (William J. Matthew Carson) had lived with William J. Carson (wife Hannah Broche), a son of the older Matthew Carson. I thought the younger Matthew was William's son. Jane Carson from Pickens SC could be Mrs. Jane Hays, Matthews third wife.
Please reply to compare findings/notes. Thanks
