I don't think it's the same Robert. He was born in 1762 in Cumberland County PA to a Margaret ?. He was buried in Swamp Cemetery in Seneca County Ohio in 1837. His wife Margaret died in the same year. They moved to Seneca County Ohio and belonged to Mount Pisgah/Union Presbyterian church, sometimes called the Swamp Church. This is the cemetery they were buried in. They were the first ones buried there. They had one son, Samuel who married Elizabeth Willoughby. Their son, Harrison Henry Carson was my GGrandfather. He married Agnes Hamilton and moved to Michigan on a land grant. This is where the family has stayed. He also had two brothers near where he moved to Michigan.

Hi Debbie,
With the way Rootsweb lists things, I can't tell if your posting is responding to one of my postings or another posting. I do think some Carson lines in Cumberland PA connect to Carson lines in TN/NC. My line includes the names David, Robert, William, John, Samuel, Alexander, James, etc.
My DNA results match exactly with the Moses Carson line from Lancaster PA (Cumberland was formed from Lancaster). My ancestors were David Carson born 1755-65, and his father was named Robert Carson, born 1730s (based on findings). In the 1760s Cumberland PA, Moses Carson was deeded the goods/chattels of Robert Carson dec'd. Right now, I suspect Robert dec'd to be the father of Moses (named son Robert) and my Robert (father of David, and my David named his oldest son Robert).
If you can email me direct, we can compare.
Thanks,
Gary

How did you find the David Carson who was listed as an heir to John Linn Carson in 1762? I believe my GGGGGrandfather was David Carson who lived in Sherman's Valley, Cumberland County, PA which was changed to Perry County, PA later. Tyrone township is located in what used to be Sherman's Valley. My line is from Harrison H. Carson (GGrandfather) to Samuel Carson buried in Seneca County Ohio- Robert Carson buried in Seneca County Ohio- to David who is listed as the father of Robert in a Revolutionary War letter requesting pension. I don't believe this David Carson is any of the Carson's that moved on. I believe he died in Cumberland County around 1810 and that's when Robert Carson left for Ohio. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

The information I have on John Shadrack Carson came from Carlene Guthier who descends from his father Shadrack born 1804 and Mary Polly Turner.
Since that posting, we've learned that the DNA results for my David Carson line and Shadrack's line are similar though likely not close enough to be his uncle, according to the experts. These Carson families were connected somehow in TN then in Haywood TN. A younger Shadrack born c1814 (in Cass GA 1840 and Polk TN 1850) I believe to be a son of Robert Carson born c1785-90, which findings indicate was David's oldest son. I assume the name came from Shadrack.
I don't have proof of the marriage at this time. If I find anything, I'll pass it along.
Gary

Hello Gary,
For some reason I never received notice that you had replied to my query on John Shadrack Carson. In your reply you state he connects with Shadrack Carson b. 1804 Tn, nephew of your David Carson. Do you have any evidence of a marriage of John Shadrack to a Margaret (Mary) Green, dau of Elisha and Lucinda Green of Polk Co., TN and later moved to Gilmer Co., GA? I believe John Shadrack Carson to be the father of my husband's grandfather, Archibald Carson but have not been able to prove it. I would love to exchange what info I have on this family with you.

In Dec 1999 you asked for some proof about the marriage of John S. Carson to Margaret (Mary) L. Green of Fannin County, GA in the mid-1860's. I do not have a copy of their marriage license, but located Margaret (Mary) in the home of her mother (Lucinda) and father (Elisha Green) in 1870, Fannin County, GA census. Ancestry.com has transcribed the name Carson as Casson, but if you look closely and compare the "r"'s and "s"'s in Elisha Green's listing, you will note the name is actually Carson for Margaret (Mary) and her sons, John and Archibald (also mis-spelled as Achibold) Carson.
If you have located their marriage record in the last few years, I would like to know where I could get a copy. Many thanks for posting.....and sorry I just now noticed it!
