Marilyn,I am descended from Walter CARSON & Elizabeth QUICK(married June
1750) of Ulster county,New York. They had at least two sons, Samuel(born April
1751) and my direct descendent Johannis(born July 1753.) Both of them were in
the Ulster county Militia in the Revolutionary War. Samuel married twice;
first to Margrietje ENNIS(ENNIST) and then to Elizabeth NYBORER(NYBERGER). I'm
sorry I don't have dates for these. I hope this helps you out. Of course,
these people may not connect with your CARSON Family at all. Ed Carson

Hi Patricia,
Thanks for the reply. For some reason, the rootsweb email I got didn't link
back to Rootsweb and the posting referenced.
I speculate that Margaret Carson who married John Reed in Guilford NC 1770s
was a daughter of one of the Lancaster PA Carson line (my line) who moved to
Orange, Caswell and Guilford NC 1760s-1770s (Robert, David, William and
Moses). Robert and David were in Orange c1766. Around 1778, Robert Carson was in
Guilford NC on the Belues River west of Orange/Caswell. The others (David,
William and Moses Carson) on the South Hyco River near the Orange/Caswell
line.
My Carson line DNA closely matches that of Thomas Carson b1740 in New Castle
DE who moved to Washington PA.

It was John Cantzon who married a Sarah Dickey in PA Lancaster Co (dtr of a
Moses Dickey). He was not named Carson and was reportedly of French origin.
They moved to SC. Their son, Moses Cantzon (Moses Canson) is in Chester
SC 1790. John Cantzon died c1780s and she remarried a Harper who died before
1800. In 1800 Lancaster SC is widow Harper, Moses Cantzon and some Harper
stepsons. Moses Cantzon is mentioned in Harper's will.
Apparently some time ago, a researcher made a mistake in transcribing this
Cantzon surname as Carson and it got passed to others as fact.
