My Great-Grandmother was Mary Jane Carson. She was born Aug 9, 1859 ub Smithfield, Wetzel Co, VA and married Steven Stout about 1890 in the same place. She passed away on the 23rd of September, 1927 in Folsom, Wetzel Co., WVA
Her parents are:
William Carson who married Merrie Dye in Harrison Co., VA Sept 12, 1850.
This is the end of the road on this line for me. I have no information beyond this as where they came from nor when they were born.
of course, any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Lisa,
I don't have information on the Westmoreland Carsons. What I've found is
that a major cluster started out in Chester, Lancaster and York counties, then
some moved due west in PA (and later to OH), and some went south into VA and NC.
If something pops up, I'll post it.
Good luck,
Gary

I actually think Margaret McCord's parents were David McCord (died 1758 by
Indians) and Jane Lowry. William and Margaret named a daughter Jennet (Little
Jane) and a son David. Some claim Margaret moved to Mecklenburg NC and married
a Query but I think that was a niece. I think DAvid and William of
Lancaster, Orange Washington TN were brothers. They both named their second daughters
Mary, indicating both had a mother by that name. William named his oldest
known son William. David had a David Jr but there might have been an older son.
Marilyn,
There is a Carson DNA site (link below). The Recruitment link is to the lab
I used. They seem as good as any others, and the results are compared to
other Carsons, which is the initial priority. Carson results are posted there as
long as the person gives permission. Fortunately, mine matched two others, so
there are three now. There is also a WFN page where anybody can search
matches with any other surnames. For example, there is a Carswell and a MacReyolds
individual that matched the 12 marker exactly. That would mean a common
ancestor somewhere back there.

I received my partial (12 marker) results and have 2 exact matches. I did the 37 marker...awaiting those as well.
I would like ALL Carson researchers to get a male to do the YDNA test. It's easy.
Hopefully, we can sort out the Carson lines better.
