Don:
As I've noted in the past, we know the descendents of Henry and Agness
(Carson) Maxwell. None ended up in NC. It is true that several of
Agness Carson Maxwell's sibblings were in NC and SC,
specifically two known sons of Walter and Agness Carson, John and
William, plus a presumed son Walter who married Mary Carson, daughter
of Samuel Carson m. Jane Patterson living in Chester Ct. PA. Samuel
Carson was a blood relative of Walter Carson (we have letter) but it
is unknown whether brothers or cousins. Samuel Carson was in Chester
Ct. PA 1725 and Walter documented by 1729.
All three sons were in NC/SC by 1780, Walter earlier than that.
As far as Maxwells, most children of Robert Maxwell (died 1752 if memory
serves) m. Catherine (who married second Porterfield) moved to NC
by 1770 if memory serves. Henry Maxwell was a witness to the will of
Robert Maxwell (who died in Lancaster Ct. PA). It is my THEORY ONLY
that Henry and Robert were related. Robert was born 1716 if memory
serves and Henry was born between 1724 and 1732 (documented). They
could have been brothers or uncle/nephew. They could have come to the
US together in the 1740s. All the Lancaster records 1740-1750 of
significance are no longer available, so there's nothing that will ever
be available to prove their relationship. The interesting thing is that
Henry and Robert used virtually the same names for their children, which
might support their being brothers moreso than uncle/nephew.
Never has been anything to link Henry with Nathaniel.

Hi,
Annie Carson is my 3rd great paternal grandmother. Can anyone help me found the names of her parents? As usual with females the following is what little I know about her.
Born abt 1794 Pa. - Source - 1850 Census Allegheny Co. Jefferson Twp. Pa
Married Henry Gregg, who was born in Northern Ireland, Oct 22, 1818 Derry Twp. Westmoreland Co. Pa - Source - Westmoreland County Marriages & Deaths from Weekly Newspapers 1818-1865 Vol. 1 by Fischer, Gregg, Henry & Ann Carson both Derry Twp. married 10-22-1818 by John Shaw Esq. (10-31-1818).
I believe Annie and Henry both die between the 1850 and 1860 Pa Census.
Their children were:
Ane Maria Gregg born Dec 2, 1819 married Samuel C. Watson
Nancy Jane Gregg born 1825 married William Hoffman King
Margaret F. Gregg born Jan 13, 1828 married Arron Watson
Joseph Carson Gregg born 1829 married Isabelle Haney
Emily H. Gregg born March 5, 1832 married Adam W. Smith (my 2nd great grandparents)
Samuel T. Gregg born June 13, 1835 married Eliza T. J. Craven
James Gregg not in the 1850 Census feel he died young
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you,
Lona Laughlin Boudreaux

John Carson's wife, Huldah was probably a SWAIM. In 1850, the name is indexed and spelled "SWIM," but a SWAIM descendant has told me that his family pronounced the name "SWIM." This is probably Huldah on the 1850 Census:

On 11 MAY 1871, C. B. ALLEN, Gdn., filed for a minor's pension, application 195.883 [or 195.813], certificate 150.576.

John and Huldah's daughter, Adah L. CARSON, died in 1865 and is buried in Tangier/Sixteen Cem. Parke Co. IND, Liberty Twp. A woman named Hulda SWAIM is buried in the same cemetery, with no headstone and no dates available. This is probably Huldah CARSON. I believe she died by 1870 as her son, John M. CARSON, is living with a SWAIM family in 1870, and also, he has a guardian, Rev. Cyrus B. ALLEN by 1871 (see pension application above and 1880 census below.)

Note that John M.'s parents' birthplaces are probably incorrect.
There are two John M. CARSONs in 1880, Boone Co. IND. Are these two different boys, or did John M. get counted twice? Perhaps he was living with the ALLEN family and working for the CORY family?

Was Rev. Cyrus B. ALLEN related to the CARSON or SWAIM families?
Is the John M. CARSON living with Wm. CORY the son of John CARSON and Huldah; or is he a different person?
What happened to John M. CARSON after 1880?
Does anybody have date of death for William CARSON, buried in Tangier/Sixteen
Cemetery, Parke Co. Indiana, Liberty Township. The Internet record for that
cemetery says, "This was taken from cemetery records and lists some that
didn't have stones."

I'm trying to tie my gg grandma, Mary Carson b. Dec 1845(according to Grayson co, Va census info), to the John and Celia Carson family in Ashe (later Alleghany co) NC. That family came from Ireland, at least john did. Does anyone know of this family. John Carson died in 1852, when it was still Ashe co. The family did have a Mary, who never married, but had a son, my g grandpa, Ephraim b. NC in 1874. They seemed to have settled in Grayson co, Va. If anyone has this family, please contact me
Is anyone involved in a DNA testing program or knowledgeable about them?
Thank you Marilyn

I would like to find more regarding Mark Andrew (known as Andrew) PETERS and wife Casthana LUND whose son (and possibly at least one other child) was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1835. It has not been determined where they originated from but it is thought that it could have been Scandinavia from whence they were en route to Australia and New Zealand. Any information would be much appreciated. Thankyou, Judith Wakefield.

Enclosed as an attachment is the obituary for Reverend CARSON who was the Minister for the Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church (GMPC) in Coronado for decades. This obituary was published in the Coronado Eagle in 1992, the town newspaper.
Reverend CARSON was remarkable and known for his many accomplishments, one of which that is not mentioned in the obituary was authorizing and endorsing the establishment of a Youth Ushers Group (YUG) to serve the first worship service each Sunday morning. He appointed Mr. Robert "Bob" A. HANSON to be the YUG Leader. My brother Richard and myself were both members of this wonderful group until our respective graduations from Coronado High School (CHS) in the early to mid 1960's.
