Daniel,
I think your ancestors may connect with a William Carson born 1801 in Buncombe NC (or that area) who married Lydia Crawford. I think William was a nephew of David Carson, my 5g grandfather (some think he was a son of David but David's household in the censuses had only 2 sons in that age range.....Ambrose born c1799 and Samuel) born 1804. I think William was more likely a son of Robert Carson who was probably David's brother.
William's son, James Terrell Carson married on 12/21/1851 in Haywood County, North Carolina to Charlotte Henson. She was the daughter of Thomas Henson and Jenny Cole. Children include:
1. Rhoda Magdalene Carson b. 2/1/1853
2. William Thomas Carson b. 6/19/1854 NC married Harriet Oxner b. 1856 NC
3. Lydia Jane Carson
4. Julius Thaddeus Carson b. 6/7/1858, d. 8/24/1944 Jackson County NC
5. Haseltine E. Carson

Hi Sanday
I am sorry I can't help with the Carson's. I am no relation to them at all.
I am just trying to find an old friend who served in World War II in the
503rd Paratroopers with my father. I want to share photos from a scrapbook
that was willed to me from another Paratrooper.
Sorry I can't help
Cindy

Subject: Crawford-Carson connection?
Hi Cindy, I know very little about the origins of my Carson great
grandparents, other than they came from Tyrone and that my ggrandmother
Sarah had
Carson for a maiden name, and also married my ggreat grandfather, William
Carson.
They married in Boston on June 9, 1885.
What intrigued me about your letter was the Crawford name. According to an
elderly cousin, William Carson had siblings in Pittsburgh PA. This cousin
thought that "William's relataive Sarah Carson married a Crawford and
produced 7
girls, one living in Rochester"
The Robert Carson in the family died of meningitis in Pittsburgh.
I've attempted to figure all this out via Ancestry.com's Pittsburgh
databases, but there are so many Williams, Sarahs, Carsons and Crawfords in
various
combinations that it makes me dizzy and confused.
I know chance of connection is doubtless remote, but "nothing ventured,
nothing gained".
Boston Carsons seem to be a rare phenomenon.
Thanks, Sandy Holmes Fairhaven MA

Sandy and Listers:
Your post has brought up some questions about my ancestor, James CARSON.
According to the archives for the Allegheny Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Pittsburgh,
PA, James was born 1800, Carlisle, PA. His date of death is given as 1875,
Old Allegheny [now the North Side of Pittsburgh]. He is listed in the Harris
City Directories 1837 & 1841, as an innkeeper/merchant, and this matches with
later censuses, 1850-60-70.
Further info has a marriage between he and Mary GEER (b. 1810, Cumberland,
PA) on the 18th of Dec 1828, Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Pittsburgh, PA. At
the time that I found this, there was also a marriage, 1821, for a William
CARSON and Nancy BENNETT. I have never been able to prove a connection between my
James and this William, but have always found this of interest, since both
couples were married at this church.
I've never found a will for James Carson, so that leaves a blank. Not sure
if he owned property or not.
There were Carsons in northern Allegheny Co., and Butler Co., I believe, in
the early 1800's. Again, have never been able to find a connection.
Since you mention that William did have siblings, any chance there is a
James? I realize that your William is later than James, but any little tidbit or
info could possibly help with my search.
Thanks for your time, and hope to hear from you.
Marybeth C.

Daniel,
With WILLIAM CARSON being such a common name, you need to provide dates and spouses in order to figure out which Carson family you are referring to. I may be of some help but am not sure without more information.

Hello list
I thought again I would try to find some information on Robert G. Carson.
He was in the Army with my father during World War II. I have since
inherited a scrap book from one of the Paratroopers and in it are several
wonderful photos of Robert G. Carson. I also had photos of him from my
father’s collection, Sherman L. Durham and from other soldiers. In this
scrap book is a copy of the original map that was used by Bernard B. Morton
when he jumped on Corregidor in the South Pacific. When the war was over he
had all his comrades and friends sign their name and address so that he
could keep in touch. One of the men was Robert G. Carson. At wars end he
lived at 315 Greer or Green St. in High Point, NC.
I would very much like to share these photos with family members or maybe
even Robert himself. Time is running out though as we are losing so many of
our WW II soldiers each and every day.
Hoping someone will recognize the name and information.
Thanks in advance
Cindy Durham Crawford

Hi,
The only known Carson ancestor in my family is Mary Carson born 1783. She
married George Bratton who was born in York County PA. They eventually moved to
Plum Twp., Allegheny County PA. I do not know who Mary's parents were. My
guess is that her father's name was James since that was the name of her second
son. Her first son was William, which was the name of George Bratton's
father.
Like you .... I cannot find out her family because there was very little
information about females of that time. The odds are that my Mary Carson was also
born in York County PA.
If anyone have any thoughts about her, please let me know.
Thanks,
Nancy

Irvin's wife in the 1910 and 1920 census is listed as Lillian E. The online IL Marriage Records list her as Enzella L. Drury, which is what most of the posted World Tree show. However, one posted family tree (contact: unknown) notes that the marriage record included the name of her parents. Would like to know who the marriage record shows as her parents. I suspect her last name was incorrectly transcribed and thus, is not exactly Drury but, instead is Derry.
Thanks!

Hal,
I think I misread the posting I was replying to.
By the way, there are two Alfred Carsons in my family...Alfred P. born 1836 TN (son of Ambrose Carson and nephew of my 3g grandfather Samuel Carson born 1804 NC) and Alfred J. born 1888 TX (grandson of the older Alfred and son of Archibald Smith Carson).
Since yours is born 1853, obviously that's a different line.

Gary, thanks for your efforts, but I do not think she is the same Ruth Carson. My great grandmother's name was Mary Anderson (b. 1863), and my great grandfather's name was Alfred Carson (b. 1853). All family records state Ruth Cleora and Priscilla Dove were born in NC - perhaps in Anderson County (?).

Hal,
In the 1900 NC census Alamance County, there is a Ruth Carson born Dec 1897 with a sister Viola born 1899. Their parents' names are William Carson born 1872 and Emma born 1874. William is an engineer at a cotton mill.
Haven't found a Ruth Cleora or Priscilla Dove in 1910.
