Welcome Donna and Nancy!!! to Carruthers-L, AND,
Thank you and grandmother Margaret for your impressive Carruthers
contribution! We do have a number of Carruthers contributers, whom, I
predict, will also welcome your information.
You mention our Archives (I'd like to take full credit, but our
contributors far exceed me in quality and quantity), so pls let us know
where you see potential connections, and our List will hopefully be doing
the same. Do you see any connections to the 1700s New Berns Carruthers? or
Witheringtons?
If you do have any more location info, that might help. Our list was
early dominated by early Atlantic (both sides) dwellers, then it seemed to
shift a bit towards Australia. Some of us have done dna for other surnames
but also contributed our dna results to the Border Reivers search
(connections of Witheringtons and Carruthers seem likely. I'll hopefully be
able to contact them for interchange info. The dna outfit some of us used,
FamilyHistoryDNA.com, allowed us to share our dna findings w/the Reivers -
perhaps you can also. (james Elliott) is hosting - I'll find his email if
interested.

Hi Barry,
My name is Donna E. Cicatelli and my sister Nancy Cicatelli, We are so
thankful to find your pages and research on the Carruthers family.
Our grandmother Margaret E. Hughes*(maiden name) 1914B-2001D is the daughter
of
Laura Jane Holiday*Feb 1 1898 B,livington Nabr. Daughter of
Mary (mamie) Elizabeth Copper *Sept 6th 1818 Dawson Nabr, daughter of
Alvan Copper Sept 11th 1845 Fulton Indiana son of
Elizabeth Carruthers Nov 7th 1825 Ohio daughter of
WM J Carruthers Mar 1792b ?1812d (married to Maryann Kincade June 30 1797
of Ireland) son of
Capt. John Carruthers 1739b 1789 (married mart Armstrong) son of
James Carruthers 1715b 1803d (married to Elizabeth n/a) son of
Robert Carruthers 1694 ( married to Sara Spraul) son of
Robert Carruthers 1668 (married to Sara maybe Hathaway or Anderson) son of
Joannis Carruthers 1649 (married to Elizabeth Henderson) son of
John Carruthers no b/d (married to Susan Wyndurspoon) son of
John Carruthers no b/d no wife listed son of
John Carurthers 1523 (married to Blanche Murray) son of
Sir Simon Carruthers 1484 no wife listed.
So I found a company that does dna testing on the web and one of the family
names is our beloved Carruthers blood line. I'm sure the information I have
is right and true my grandmother Margaret had this family tree done in the
early 70's and to my knowledge she hiered someone from a church to do the
research.
Also to add to her credit she instilled in us the importance of our family
line and the struggles in there day to day life and to never forget where
your family came from I'm sure its also about pride.
she always made a big deal about the Hughes family and the fact that they
were free masons and how we homesteaded 'Hughes ville', pettis co, Missouri
and how the building is still standing and the grave stones are still on the
property.
I could go on and on with her stories but another time, If you can help us
in any way back up the info we already have we will appreciate it.
Thank you and I would love so share what I have, if it is of any interested
to you ill be glad to mail it to you.
Thanks again
Thank you
Donna Cicatelli
