This was found in Governors Office 146 at NC Archives. I found it when I
requested tax lists for Duplin Co. It was not indexed under Dobbs Co.
cards. Perhaps that is why it has not been posted before. I am going to
begin with Johnston since many of the same names appear in Dobbs.
This file is in two bound volumes entitled Taxables, Justices, and Militia Officers
1754-1768.
It is not index or pages not numbered. Also there are pages headed by the
county name but some entries on a county page may contain information about
another county. It looks like they used all the spaces they could no matter
where it was.

COLONIAL RECORDS OF LENOIR COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA ALSO KNOWN AS THE LOVIT
HINES COLLECTION - abstracted from Microfilm Roll MF - 95 by Martha
Mewborn Marble
NOTE: Lovit Hines collected as many originals or copies of original
documents located in private hands as he knew about and had the NC Archives
place said documents on microfilm. Some of these original documents are
still in the possession of private individuals and some have been placed at
the NC Archives or other institutions in Collections. I have tried not to
duplicate individual records already abstracted from various sources
especially the Edwards Collection where the original Hill and many of the
Hardee documents are found. No doubt many of the originals of records in
this Collection are in the James Hines and Wiatt Hines Collections, but
they have not been abstracted as yet. The researcher also needs to refer
to the Lenoir County Archives Page for those records dated after Dobbs
County was abolished.
