Subject: [HESSIAN] Maryland
I was able to go to the library yesterday and look up some material on
the
Oaths of Allegiance in Maryland.
There are two books by Bettie S.Carrothers on this subject.
One of them is "9000 Men who signed the Oath of Allegiance in Maryland
during the Rev. War".
The second one by her is " Maryland Oath of fidelity". this is a
completely different list.I found many more names on this approaching my
DUNMIRE surname. The book describes it as compiled by card indexes at the
Maryland State Archives. This answers my query as to any written material
outside actually going to the archives.
I also discovered an interesting book "The Maryland Germans" by Dieter
Cunz. There are names in there and general discussion of the German
settlements in Maryland... mainly Baltimore, Hagerstown and Frederick.
I hope this helps someone else.
Ann
