James Carruthers, B 3-6-1784, David B 9-18-1779, William, B 10-3-1771, John
, B 9-27-1786, possibly Janet, 1770, all children of David Carruthers and
Catherine (Cathrain) Carruthers of Johnstone Parish, Dumfries. Lived in
Elizatown. Have certified copy of birth registration for the four boys.
Seeking any information on this family. James-soldier in Royal Scots
Fusiliers thru 1816 (could be later). James Carruthers and Janet Jardine
between 1820-1843 or later had following: Children: James b, 1820 Murirkirk,
Ayr, William, David, Robert, Thomas, Samuel, Catherine 1829, Margaret 1833,
Marion 1838, Mary 1843, Isabell, all in Lesmahagow. No information on others
or where they were born. No marriage information James/Janet. Janet is
second wife. First wife May Nicol, one child, John, b 1816, presumably
Johnstone Parish, Dumfries.
James married Helen Muir (3rd marriage), 1848 in Lanark. Three known
children born in Ayrshire. George 1855 (died infancy), Andrew, 1856 (died
infancy), Margaret married Thomas Watt April 23,1875 in Ayrshire.
James died in Kilmarnock in 1867, death certificate signed by son, Samuel
Johnstone Carruthers wife, Janet Kerr.
