Hi Gordon,
Did you ever make any progress on your wifes' ancestor Margaret? This could be
important for our research. We are all quite acquainted w/the 1751 Craven NC will. Any
progress on the LA death connection?

Hi y'all right back from a transplanted southerner exiled in upstate NY!
I'm trying to figure out the ancestory of a very mysterious Carruthers
-- William of NC, b. ca. 1740, d. April 14, 1808 in St. Martinville LA.
He md twice, first (allegedly in NJ) to Elizabeth Bickam or Bacon, and second to Margaret
McCarthy, McCarty, McChoirty -- I've seen it spelled a number of ways, you know how
old records go. My wife descends from Margaret, the only child of the second marriage.
I've found a will in NC of a John Carruthers which mentions a son William, but no idea
if this is the same William.
Anyone out there know how William of NC and LA fits in to other Carruthers families?
I'm very willing to share information.
Cheers,
Gordon Bonnet
