Hi Betty,
I don't seem to have time to correct my own Lines, at least I so claim. I'm
very happy there are sharp researchers like you paying attention. Pls keep it
up. The only Carruthers really I try to monitor are Rocksolannah & her crew.
Does "James Carothers, his father, was b 17 April, 1750 in Cumberland, PA and
not in Dumfrieshire, Scotland." connect up to her or her dad John? I did locate
some info, particularly re Bangs/Carruthers, but have't entered it into my FTM
yet. People keep telling me that FamilySearch is error prone, as tho the other
sites are not.
Best, Barry

Subject: SAMUEL CAROTHERS Family
| Hello Barry,
|
| Can't remember if we have corresponded before. My great-grandmother was
| Harriet Burline Carothers, born abt. 1830, Madison Co. TN, died 1900, Carroll
| Co., MS. She married William James Woodell, 1853, in Madison Co. TN. I
| believe her parents to be Samuel Carothers and his second wife, Rachel
| Robertson Carothers. Have been interested in your Carothers info; however,
| there are a few descrepancies between your information on Rootsweb and that
| of
Familysearch.org.
|
| Family Search says Samuel Carothers was born 31 March, 1786, in
| Mecklenburg, NC and died in 1847, Madison Co. TN, not Tipton Co. TN. And it
| says his mother was Agnes NEELY, not Agnes Woods. Also, it says James
| Carothers, his father, was born 17 April, 1750 in Cumberland, PA and not in
| Dumfrieshire, Scotland. So which is correct? Just wondering......
|
| Thank you for any information.
|
| Sincerely,
|
| Betty Catherwood
