Re: How to Find what you want in our List Archives!
(Here Elizabeth Barlet md Daniel Orwig)
Hi Irene, AND ALL BARLETTS, AND ALL MEMBERS OF MY 30 LISTS, WHO ARE
LOOKING FOR THEIR ANCESTORS ! ! ! ! What you want and seek is very likely
to be in our List's Archives, and you can find out in 5 minutes (if you are
slow).
For example, Irene is looking for 'Daniel Orwig' - AND he is right there
in the Archives, exactly just as Irene is seeking!
Here is what you, AND ALL BARLETTS, AND ALL SURNAMES CAN DO, right now.
YOU can SO EASILY find anything for yourself just by activating the Archives
Link found in the tagline (see copy of a tagline below) of EVERY Barlett
message (and in EVERY message of ALL Lists I host), namely:
[Archives Link:]
http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/b/barlett.html
(This is the 'Link'!! - Click on it now to see what it does, then click on
the 'BACK' button to come back to this message. You can click FWD & BACK
almost as much as you want so you do NOT lose your place and your draft msg)
I do not mean to pick on you Irene, but your email is quite typical of
many and so easily answered by what, YOU are learning, you could SO EASILY
find for yourself. I host 30 of these lists AND I have my own research to
do, so I have little time to answer research questions. Plus it is better
learned when you do the work yourself.
Click on that 'Link' (directly above) in the TagLine, and then click on
the 'Search' option: (which Looks Like This)
'Search the BARLETT archives,'
that comes up when you click on the Link. Click on the Search option.
Now, in the Query' box, type in the best, most unique word(s) or dates
or places or other names you seek (here, we use 'Daniel Orwig') (don't seek
'Barlett' on the Barlett List or you will be overwhelmed w/every msg). Pick
any yr - you will most likely eventually look in every year, even if you hit
the jackpot on the first attempt, like here where I started w/ Daniel Orwig
in the year 2000 option, revealing the msg reproduced at the bottom of this
msg. Just below is Irene's msg, then below that is a typical Tagline,

HI, I descend from Elizabeth Barlet, She was born in Pa, but moved to
Ohio. I think her father was Daniel Barlet. Could you please send a short
modern Pedigree, I would like to see your family in more recent times. She
was married to Daniel Orwig and they had a son by the name of John Henry
Orwig. I think he was born in Wayne Co, Ohio.Take care.

Subject: [Barlett] IGI & other various spell Barlets, following large
download
Here are IGI & other Barlets, following soon after the large download of
a short while ago
Here are some Family Search IGI and Ancestral File results for various
spellings of Barlett, starting w/106 Barlets, then to 108 IGI surnames of
just England (possibly some overlap w/below names), including a Johan in
late 1500s Eng (recall, Daniel suggested hi parents (or GPs?) were split in
country origin; one from Germant and one from England, a claim we have had
trouble with, since it appeared that both Barlet immigrants were of Germanic
origin).
There are Eve/as and Johans here, AWA others of interest.
This looks very much like Elizabeth, a dau of Daniel (Wayne OH is
Wooster), sis of my GG Gf Henry Barlitt, s/o Daniel. I thought Eliz md a
half bro of Barbara Barlitt's husband, Christian Amos, so I have no idea who
"Daniel ORWIG" is - perhaps a 1st husband, if this is 'our' Elizabeth.
And
is there a Rachel Barlett?
Barry

AND, it also points the way for even more leads for further research on this
issue - note there are Batch numbers identified as available for you to find

Note: Do not expect others to want to do for you what YOU can so easily do
for yourself.
