Hi,
Is the Will below is the one you mentioned? I am a descendant of
Rocksolannah Carruthers. You have probably just been looking at my prior
(first) Carruthers message w/ an excerpt of a tree w/Rock. Is there anyone
w/whom you can work in the VA/MD area, because that may be the area to
concentrate. Here is a Carruthers web site (not mine):

Hi y'all right back from a transplanted southerner exiled in upstate NY!
I'm trying to figure out the ancestory of a very mysterious Carruthers
-- William of NC, b. ca. 1740, d. April 14, 1808 in St. Martinville LA.
He m. twice, first (allegedly in NJ) to Elizabeth Bickam or Bacon, and
second to Margaret McCarthy, McCarty, McChoirty -- I've seen it spelled
a number of ways, you know how old records go. My wife descends from
Margaret, the only child of the second marriage.
I've found a will in NC of a John Carruthers which mentions a son
William, but no idea if this is the same William.
Anyone out there know how William of NC and LA fits in to other
Carruthers families?
I'm very willing to share information.
Cheers,
Gordon Bonnet
