I believe - c2) Robert or William had at least two children :
c2a) Phillis CARRUTHERS 1775 - 1860 x James GOWANLOCH
c2b) James CARRUTHERS
b. 15th May 1791 - d. 2nd Nov. 1848 in Quarrelwood Kirkmahoe
James married Sarah McDONALD

Hi Ian
Phillis Carruthers' parents should be given on her death certificate if she
died in 1860.
The link from
Generation (2) Christopher 2nd of DORMONT babt. 1544 x Margaret JOHNSTOUN
Generation (3) George of BRYDEGILL & G babt. 1628
suggests a man of 86 fathering a child. Mmmmmm!! I don't think so <LOL>
Similarly with William of Sorrysick b 1708 - he's not likely to be the
father of Christopher born 1782.
It's important to keep in mind that by no means do all births pre-1855
appear in registers of baptism. Some researchers think as many as 30% are missing.
