Subject: {not a subscriber} Re: Wm Carruthers Sr Jr ? Davis Prudence Hobbs
| Hi John,
|
| First, welcome and thanks for the fine info you've provided. Also. Tex is
| too modest - he was at this before I was, and his info is good - having said
| that, I'm not ready or knowledgeable enough to authenticate any Carruthers
| info to a level you might need. We are still dealing in clues, of which we
| have many. The 1751 Carruthers will is quite helpful, and pretty much
| accepted as gospel. After that, we encounter the same probs you mention. We
| do have a Carruthers & a Bangs purchasing property 'together' in New Bern NC
| area early 1700s, and a goodly few other refs to Carruthers & land.
|
| Here's what I suggest - OneClick Join Carruthers-L (Free) and search the
| extensive archives:
|
http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/w/witherington.html
| where you will find many relevant entries.
|
| You will find much there, and you can post your msg to the entire site,
| as I will this msg. I would recommend you ask specific questions seeking
| specific answers. I recently did a rather complex review of some
| Carruthers/Bangs Gen, and what an incedible expenditure of time, in addition
| to maintaining this and abt 12 other Lists.
|
| We do have a lot of Carruthers info - far too much to keep straight even
| if it involved just one list. Yet there is MUCH in our Archives. I can say
| this - I'm a GGG Gs of Rocksolannah Carruthers md Witherington, owned Lot 98
| catty cornered to the Tryon Palace, and perhaps not far from, and at the
| same time as, Prudence's lot 89 (you'd have to believe they knew each
| other), altho I'm not clear where the 'Estate' was located. The 1751
| Carruthers will was right in the middle of the events you discuss. I wasn't
| actually consciously aware of the Beaufort situation. I don't know if the
| 1722 will of Robt Widdrington will assist you.
|
| Best of Luck, and let us know where you post your results.
