Hi Malcolm,
I did rec the email/ images, and have d/l ed them, and have viewed them all.
What a great site. Beautiful church & Cem. I saw your toothbrush & other brush,
next to your penny loafers.
Having photoed Cems/ Headstones, I know the probs encountered, and how
difficult it is. The light can't be good for all fotos on all sides, hard to get
good definition, contrast, etc. Yours came out well, altho old lettering is
difficult to decipher fm fotos.
Hard for me to determine from here what is best for you to photo, etc. Just
do what is most significant to you, and perhaps let us know what you can about
the significance. For impor items, perhaps interpret the corcumstances, words,
location, etc. Can you get access to a GPS reader to locate these sites for
those who want to follow you?
I love the perspective you put on it - 'Gretna Green to be exact, is famous
for runaway couples who could be legally married by the blacksmith over the
anvil.'
and your suggestions -
'Anyone looking for marriage documentation may want to consider this as another
avenue to explore if the usual channels prove a dead end.'
Best, & keep on 'Keepin On.'
Barry

Subject: More MI's and some photo's too.
Hi Barry,
You never got back to me on what photo's you wanted, I don't find it piggish,
so I include some photo's of the churches if any, the churchyard, and some
gravestones, some of which are too large to take as one shot for any detail, so
I have taken multiple shots where I thought it necessary
The light was starting to fade at Syke cemetery where there was only one
Carruthers gravestone which was in a very bad condition as you will see.
I don't know if you are aware that Gretna or Gretna Green to be exact, is
famous for runaway couples who could be legally married by the blacksmith over
the anvil. Anyone looking for marriage documentation may want to consider this
as another avenue to explore if the usual channels prove a dead end.
Best wishes. Malcolm.
P.S. Gretna Photo's:
