Good stuff Collene,
I'll be out of touch for awhile, but wish to delve into this w/gusto!
Pls keep me in mind. I copied Bill King also re: the
"He then shows up in the 1790 census of Cheraw's Dist. SC with two
sons" comment.

Hi,
This is Paul Wetherington's line, (Wpaul868(a)aol.com)
tested as an exact match on 12 marker Y-DNA.
Paul is 60 years old, retired architest and wife Susan moved
back to her family farm out from Dublin, GA about 3 yrs ago.
Father-- Jack B. Wetherington & Mother Sue Herring. Father born in Tifton,
Ga in 1917.
Gr Father - Berry William Wetherington born abt 1886 in
Lowndes County, Ga.
Collene
Gr Grandfather - Alfred Wetherington b abt 1848 in Lowndes County, GA.
(according to Huxford)
Alfred's father (according to Huxford) was William C.
Wetherington b abt 1818 in SC. and William C.'s father
was Peter Witherington b in NC in 1770.
There are several opinions on who William c.'s father was
Paul leans toward William Witherington who is from Hertford
Co., NC. This William is in Hertford Co., NC until about 1784 after which
he is not seen anymore. He then shows up in the 1790 census of Cheraw's
Dist. SC with two sons
and a wife. He believes one son is Peter and the other is
Wm Witherington who is in Montgomery Co., Ga in 1804.
The father of Peter and Wm, is William #1. The Wm Witherington who stays in
Craven County, NC and draws
a Rev. Sol Pension is the one I call Wm #2. The Wm
Witherington who is from Dobbs County, NC is the one I call Wm Witherington
#3. Wm #3 moves to Darlington
County, SC in 1800 & 1810 along with his son Wm. Jr.
and other children and then they move to Conecuh County,
Alabama. Wm #3 dies there in 1819. He hasn't seen enough to prove that
Peter is the son of William #3.
