Knoxville News-Sentinel, Aug. 1, 2000:
CARRUTH, MELTON - age 49, of Arlington, Texas, formerly of Knoxville, passed
away Saturday, July 29, 2000 at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth,
Texas. He was born October 31, 1950 in Andrews, Texas. He was of the Baptist
faith. He served in The U.S. Army as Staff Sergeant during The Vietnam
War. He married Holly Turnbow on August 28, 1970 in Andrews, Texas. They
moved to Arlington in 1994 from Knoxville, Tennessee. He was a Merit Writer
and Court Reporter. He was a member of The Short Hand Reporter's Association.
He was a member of B.A.S.S. and an avid fisherman. He had been inducted
into The National Softball Hall of Fame in 1979. He coached little league
baseball for 8 years. He is survived by his wife, Holly Carruth of Arlington,
Texas; two sons, Jason Carruth of Pearland and Aaron Carruth of Fort Worth;
mother, Ethel Carruth of Comanche; one brother, Joe Carruth of Comanche;
one sister, Nellie Delmasso of Comanche and one granddaughter. Funeral
services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2000 at Means Memorial United
Methodist Church in Andrews, Texas with Pastor, Dean Kelm of Faith Lutheran
Church officiating. Burial will be in The Andrews Old Cemetery under the
direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews, Texas.
