Hello,
As follow up of my last letter showing the map of Renfrewshire of about 1596,
I've found another map in atlas form you may be interested in at:
http://www.nls.uk/digitallibrary/map/early/counties.cfm?id=115
There you can find both "Korruith" and "B. of Korruith" on the map.
Korruith
must have been either a misspelling or an early spelling of Carruth. My
guess is "B. of Korruith" stands for what we have come to know as "lands of
Carruth" and "Korruith" stands for another farm called Carruth. Harold B.
Carruth noted in his book "Carruth Family" that there was a farmstead or a
group of farmsteads known as Carruth or lands of Carruth in this area. The
map found at the above site is much easier to read than the other one I sent
an address for. Also, you can find "Korruith" and "B. of Korruith"
the same
places as on the previous map.
Best Wishes,
H. Carrouth
